Yes, you can own your share in these businesses sitting here from the comfort of your home.
Are you joking?
No, I am serious, I am not joking.
But these are American companies and I do not have any $, what I have, only Indian rupee (INR).
Yes, still you can invest . I will tell you how.
There are some Asset Management Companies (AMCs) who have mutual fund offshore schemes . These AMCs in association with their foreign counterpart, invest in US and European markets just like Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs), invest in our markets. These schemes are called Fund Of Funds (FOF). Once you make an application for investment, these funds will accept investment amount in INR just like any other local transaction, by way of a cheque or on line transfer through RTGS / NEFT or Net banking. In turn, AMC will convert your rupee subscription in to $ and remit to their foreign partner. Once they get subscription amount, they will allot you units in the concerned mutual fund schemes.
You may ask how many days it will take?
You will be amazed to know that its just like purchasing units in any Indian mutual funds. Generally, It takes 2 working days and you get units in your account.
How are the returns of these funds?
There are about 5-6 AMCs in India, having such type of funds. For obvious reasons, I am not naming any specific fund here, but reproduce performance of a particular fund for your benefit.
