How to read a Mutual Fund statement?

How to read a mutual fund statement?

    by Rajeev Pathak

There are two ways of holding mutual fund units. Either you can hold them in Demat form or you can choose to hold them in a Statement form. When you provide your Demat Account details to an Asset Management Company (AMC)/ mutual fund house, your units are allotted in Demat form and credited to your Demat account.  When you choose Statement form, your units are stored in electronic form with the company and you are provided with a Statement of Holding.

Mutual fund investors receive statements from the Asset Management Companies (AMCs) immediately after making any investment or disinvestment (redemption) transaction.

Some AMCs and Advisors / Distributors have adopted the practice of sending statements to their investors every month whether there were any transactions in that month or not, to enhance investor satisfaction.
